Nasce a Sannicola (Lecce) nel 1962. Si diploma presso l’Istituto Statale d’Arte di Lecce, sotto la guida di maestri come Vito Russo e Marcello Gennari.
Frequenta, a Firenze, la Facoltà di Architettura; nella città toscana vi resta per tre anni, per poi dedicarsi completamente all’arte.
La scultura di Sances, dalle terrecotte alla pietra leccese, e il bronzo, sa enfatizzare le oscillazioni emozionali del tempo nella sua interezza; essa concepisce - attraverso un modellato morbido e vibrante - un evolversi dei volumi nello spazio, che trova compimento in un dinamismo metafisico. Sue opere sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche e private.
Tra le opere realizzate da Sances, ricordiamo: le sculture per un istituto bancario di Roma, raffiguranti figure sportive; la Via Crucis, la mensa dell’altare e l’ambone nella chiesa dei SS. Medici a Sannicola (1998); e, sempre nella stessa cittadina, il Monumento a Padre Pio del 2001 e la Via Crucis in bronzo presso la Madonna degli Angeli in Presicce (2004).
Attualmente vive e lavora a Sannicola (Lecce).

Luigi Mauro Sances was born in 1962 in Sannicola on the outskirts of Lecce and lives and works there still. He was taught at the Istituto Statale d’Arte in Lecce by Vito Russo and Marcello Gennari. He spent three years studying architecture in Florence before deciding to devote himself entirely to art.
His sculptures in terracotta, pietra Leccese, and bronze, emphasise emotional oscillations throughout the entire span of time. They conceive,
through soft yet vibrant forms, the evolution of volume in space, which finds its complement in a metaphysical dynamism. His works can be found in public and private collections. Notable are the sculptures for a banking institute in Rome featuring sporting figures; the Stations of the Cross, the altar and ambo for the church of the SS Medici at Sannicola (1998), the monument to Padre Pio (2001); and the Stations of the Cross in bronze at the Madonna degli Angeli in Presicce.
