Nasce a Trepuzzi (Lecce) nel 1960. Apprende i primi insegnamenti di tecnica scultorea nella bottega del padre, apprezzato scultore autodidatta. Consegue, nel 1985, il diploma in scultura presso l’Accademia di BelleArti di Lecce, discutendo una tesi dal titolo I plinti
delle colonne degli altari barocchi. Gli affidano delle supplenze di anatomia artistica, plastica ornamentale e scultura, presso l’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Lecce. Insegna Scultura presso la scuola di Disegno e Plastica “Eugenio Maccagnani”. È socio fondatore della Cooperativa “Myosothis” nata per la riabilitazione e socializzazione di ragazzi disabili. Partecipa a diversi simposi di scultura nazionali e internazionali, e a numerose mostre con successo di critica e pubblico. Nel 2001 mons. Giuseppe Stendardo, rettore-parroco della Basilica di S.M. di Leuca, gli commissiona la Via crucis in bronzo da collocare nella pineta antistante il Santuario.
“(…) La plasticità delle sue opere - scrive Umberto Valletta - fa venire alla mente tante forme tipiche che osserviamo e tocchiamo nella provincia di Lecce: i tronchi degli ulivi secolari e la rugosità dei volti dei nostri anziani contadini, ma anche quelle dei fichi secchi e delle frise. (…) Suo artista preferito: Arturo Martini, più per la sua biografia e per il suo percorso professionale che per una sterile riproposizione delle forme. Del barocco - continua Valletta - Antonio ha colto più lo spirito di festosità popolare che il senso di
sovrabbondanza figurativa che manifesta (…).” Svolge la sua attività a Lecce, in un piccolo laboratorio nel cuore del centro storico.

Antonio Miglietta was born in Trepuzzi in the province of Lecce in 1960. His first lessons in carving techniques were in the workshop of his father, a self-taught sculptor whose work is esteemed. In 1985 he obtained his diploma in sculpture from the Lecce Accademia di Belle Arti, submitting a thesis on the plinths of the columns of Baroque altars. He was given a temporary post at theAccademia teaching life drawing, modelling and sculpture. He also taught sculpture at the design school Eugenio Maccagnani.
He is a founder member of the co-operative Myosothis set up to rehabilitate handicapped young people. He has taken part in several national and international symposiums on sculpture and numerous exhibitions which have won him success with the public and critics. In 2001 he was commissioned to make the bronze Stations of the Cross for the Basilica at Santa Maria di Leuca.
Umberto Valletta wrote that the plasticity of his work brings to mind many of the typical forms that we observe and touch in the province of Lecce - the trunks of the ancient olive trees, the weatherbeaten faces of the old peasants, but also dried figs and bread baked to a biscuit. His favourite artist is Arturo Martini, more for his life story and the route he has taken artistically than as a model for slavish imitatation. From the baroque, Valletta continues, Antonio has harvested much more the spirit of popular festivity than its feeling of superabundance.
Miglietta has a little workshop in the heart of the historic centre of Lecce.
